Realtor Named GOP Candidate for Clark Co. Assessor

June 27, 2014 – Clark County- Martina Webster, Sellersburg, filed paperwork Thursday officially entering her in the race for Clark County Assessor. The Clark County Republican Party appointed Webster after she completed the requirements to be a level 3 certified assessor, as required for the position by state law.

Webster, who has been a local Realtor for 15 years, says she approaches her intended position with the mind of a Realtor but the conscience of a taxpayer. She believes her resume perfectly matches the requirements of the office, and that her strong background of broker price opinions, comparative market analysis, and a degree in Business Management make her the best candidate for Clark County Assessor.

“The Assessor’s duty is to determine the value of a parcel of land and its improvements, taking into consideration the activity of the local market and neighborhood factors. Who better to do this than someone with experience in the real estate industry?” Webster said. “I have a thorough background in determining costs and creating analytical reports. Furthermore, I enjoy math and research. My entire work history is based on meeting customer expectations and demands; I intend to put forth the same dedication for the people of Clark County.”

Webster is running against democrat incumbent, Vicky Kent Haire, who has held office since 2006. Haire successfully challenged a potential opponent off the ballot in 2010 for not meeting state requirements. Webster says many voters, of all parties, encouraged her to run, saying it was time to give voters a choice.

“Martina’s real estate knowledge prepared her to finish all requirements to be level three certified assessor in less than four months.” Clark County GOP Vice-Chair Jennifer McFarland Kern commented. “There are sitting assessors across the State who have still not met this higher level of certification, since being introduced more than six years ago. We are excited to add Martina to the 2014 Republican ticket and will be cheering her on, on Election Day.”

Webster attended Providence High School [’94], and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from IU Southeast. Martina has been married to her husband Steve for 9 years, and they have two young children. For more information on Webster, voters are encouraged to visit her website:
